He showed a passion for drama during his school years at Sir John Kothalawala Maha Vidyalaya and Piliyandala Central College, where he studied under the guidance of Premakumara Karunaratne, a well-respected mentor in the Sri Lankan arts community. His academic journey later led him to earn a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colombo and a Master of Arts from the University of Kelaniya, both of which provided a solid foundation for his diverse career in the arts.
