José Carlos Huayhuaca
Born in Cusco in 1949, he is a Peruvian film and television director, screenwriter, and writer. He also writes essays on aesthetic and cultural topics. For two years, he co-directed Butaca N, a television program dedicated to film criticism. In 1992, he won a Guggenheim Fellowship; in 1996, he received First Prize in the National Film Project Competition (Conacine). He is currently a research professor at the University of Lima and teaches film analysis at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
